About Me

IMG_8973.jpeg

My name is Thomas Robinson, and I've called Midland, Texas home for nearly three decades. I started out teaching at Midland ISD for 12 years before switching things up and joining the private sector. These days, I'm enjoying my third year at Hillcrest School and am excited to be coming back for a fourth.

One of my favorite hobby’s is building Lego models—I'm passionate about it! To keep things under control (and our living space reasonable), my wife has wisely capped me at three new sets a year. That way, we have enough room both at home and in my classroom. I also love Star Trek, so much so I have an entire arm that is tattooed with Star Trek.

When it comes to educational leadership, I really care about creating hands-on experiences for students beyond the classroom walls. Taking kids on trips to places like Washington, D.C., and historic battlefields lets them connect with history in a real, memorable way. By working with different tour companies, I help students get out there, see new sights, and learn by doing.

I’m also a big believer in technology—it’s everywhere these days, and it shapes how we live and work. Bringing tech into my teaching helps set students up for success in a world where digital skills matter more than ever.

If I had to pick just one tech tool I can't do without, it's GoGuardian. It makes it easy to guide and support students while they're online. Google Classroom is another must-have, making organization and sharing materials with students a breeze.

Some people think tech can make classrooms more distracting, but I’ve found that, when used well, it boosts focus and participation. My goal is always to use technology to spark curiosity and create engaging, meaningful learning experiences for every student.
