Contribution to My Learning and the Learning Community

 

Self-Assessment Score: 90

 As I reflect on my learning throughout this course, I believe a score of 90 accurately represents my contributions to my own learning and to our learning community. I met all of the key expectations outlined in the rubric, and while there were areas where I could have performed more consistently, particularly near the end of the term,I remained committed to meaningful collaboration, timely engagement, and growth as a self-directed learner. This reflection explains how I demonstrated the key and supporting contributions, what I did well, and what I plan to improve moving forward.

 

Building and Contributing to My Collaboration Group

 I collaborated consistently with my base group, Guadalupe Marin and Jennifer Haden. Our group discussions, shared ideas, and feedback loop were essential to the progress I made. Even when the larger, course-wide discussion board felt overwhelming or fast-paced, I remained steady in my commitment to my smaller group. We exchanged drafts, ideas, encouragement, and clarification when assignments were complex or required multiple layers (which was often the case in this course). Here are a few examples of our collaboration using rubrics for the assignments we completed on each other, we were critical but we all were looking for ways to make each other better. Peer Feedback and Revision

Throughout the course, I offered constructive feedback to my group members and incorporated their insights into my own revisions. I consistently revised major assignments, including my innovation plan, PL strategy, 3-Column Table, ePortfolio structure, and weekly discussion reflections. When I received feedback from peers or my instructor, I used it to refine my narrative voice, clarify alignment to CSLE, COVA, and Fink's 3 column table(2013), and improve my organization and APA formatting.

 

Completion of Readings, Videos, and Course Resources

 I completed all required readings, videos, and supporting resources, and I integrated them into my coursework. My discussion responses and major assignments consistently referenced: Fink’s Taxonomy, the COVA model (Harapnuik, 2017), Creating Significant Learning Environments, Gulamhussein’s (2013)research on PD, the Learning Policy Institute, and additional course-provided resources.

 

Timeliness and Participation

For most of the term, I posted consistently and early enough for peers to engage with my thinking. The one area where I fell short was near the end of the course, when teaching responsibilities, graduate coursework, and personal family demands overlapped. Although I still completed all assignments, my timing on the final collaborative discussion was not as strong as earlier in the course.

 

Leadership, Depth of Contribution, and Active Engagement

I demonstrated leadership by sharing insights from my real experiences at Hillcrest, applying course frameworks to my innovation plan, and creating artifacts that will directly support professional learning on my campus. My reflections were personal, honest, and grounded in research.

 

What I Can Improve

While I am proud of the work I completed in this course, there are several areas where I know I can continue growing. The biggest area is time management, especially during heavier weeks when teaching responsibilities, masters coursework, and personal circumstances overlap. Earlier in the term, I was consistent with posting early and giving others time to engage. Toward the end, however, my responses came later than I would have liked, and I recognize that this limited the amount of meaningful dialogue I could have had with classmates outside my base group. I also want to improve my engagement in full  class discussions, not just within my smaller collaboration group. Although I stayed very connected to Jennifer and Guadalupe, I could have been more intentional about branching out and responding to a wider range of classmates. Posting earlier and more consistently would have helped promote stronger communication, allowed others to build on my thinking, and contributed to a richer learning environment for the whole group. Finally, I want to continue developing the skill of balancing depth with timing, ensuring that my contributions are not only thoughtful but also posted early enough to support collaboration. This is something I will prioritize as I move forward in my program.

 

Conclusion

I feel I fulfilled every key contribution and most supporting contributions. Although my engagement dipped slightly at the end, the consistency, quality, and depth of my work reflect a strong commitment to learning. Therefore, a score of 90 accurately reflects my performance.
