Implementation Outline for GoGuardian

In the past decade, digital devices like laptops, smartphones, tablets, iPads, and wearables have flooded classrooms, affecting students globally. This presence of electronics has led to an always-connected lifestyle among students, causing significant digital distractions in U.S. classrooms (Pungong et al., 2023). We know there needs to be something to monitor and this something is GoGuardian. Once implemented GoGuardian will be a great tool in limiting distraction but also helping teachers to better manage their classroom. According to the Islamic Education Senior High School study, it was found that 90% of students and 80% of teachers responded positively to GoGuardian integration with Google Classroom, as it enhances learning activities(Iqbal et al., 2020). Chat and announcement features are essential for sharing instructions and updates within GoGuardian. Through chat, you can send messages to individual students or the whole class about assignments, like sending an equation for a math problem (Pungong, 2023). Once this is in place and has been fully implemented throughout Hillcrest we will see a significant improvement in teacher involvement using technology. The following outline is the plan that Hillcrest School will follow over the next few years to make sure everything is set up for success.

Year 1:Funding, Training, and Initiation of GoGuardian

Phase 1 Funding and Preparation (Months 1-3)

Funding

$20,000 Provided by Framing Square Lumber, for three years of goguardian and training
Create a committee, the board of directors will create the committee from members and teachers, to allocate money.
Committee agrees how much money is to be spent for the implementation of GoGuardian.
- Money for GoGuardian: $3,500 for 250 Students
  - Money set aside for any increase in cost of GoGuardian for year two and three.
- Money to be agreed upon for Professional Developments and one on one training.
- Money to be agreed upon for Technology implementation provided by Thomas Robinson.
- Money to be agreed upon for other preparation needed to rollout GoGuardian.
- Money for year 2, broader adoption to the High School and any changes that may need to be implemented.
- Money for year 3, for full implementation of GoGuardian to the lower school, using advanced features and continued support for the program in each classroom.

Monitor the usage of GoGuardian throughout the year, GoGuardian will send emails at the end of the day showing Students usage of the internet throughout the day, including blocked websites keep emails saved for end of the year evaluation.

Evaluate and Give Feedback to Teachers

Get feedback from parents and evaluate.
Thomas Robnson and Katie Rosser meet and gather information they have saved from throughout the year to add to PD’s and make improvements in training along with policies and procedures.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the program and show positives to Teachers and Administration, in training and meetings.

Phase 4 Implementation of GoGuardian for the High School(Month 13-21)

Prepare for High School rollout

Adjust GoGuardian policies and procedures according to feedback.
Thomas Robinson, Katie Rosser, create an enhanced training program for broader implementation.

Continued Teacher Training

Refined PD’s taking into consideration teachers and parent feedback
Provide support and help to teachers implementing the program in their classrooms
Add new support Delana Thomas to help with training and support.

Rollout for the High School

Monitor throughout the year and provide support where needed
Continued help and training throughout the year.
Collect data from all teachers, including feedback from parents.

Phase 5 Continued Evaluation and Improvement (Months 22-24)

Create Spreadsheet for year 2

- Create an Excel spreadsheet that shows Teacher usage and how teachers used GoGuardian throughout the year.
Evaluate the two years and identify areas of improvement along with positives.
Take teacher feedback and parent feedback and improve the training program for the next year and prepare for full school rollout.

Phase 6 Implement GoGuardian Throughout the School, Advanced Features used in Thomas Robinson, Katie Rosser, and Delana Thomas’s Classrooms along with Continued PD’s (Months 25-34)

Prepare for Implementation Throughout the Entire School

Adjust GoGuardian policies and procedures according to feedback.
Thomas Robinson, Katie Rosser, and Delana Thomas create an enhanced training program for High School and Lower School
Thomas Robinson and Katie Rosser implement Advanced Features such as peer deck and integration with Google Classroom in their classrooms.

Continued Trainings and PD’s

Refined PD’s taking into consideration teachers, parents and administration feedback.
Continue to provide support and training
Continue taking feedback from teachers and improve where necessary.

Provide Help in the Lower School

Thomas Robinson, Katie Rosser, Delana Thomas continue to provide help
Continue PD’s throughout the year, using feedback and data that is retrieved from GoGuardian, teachers and parents.
Monitor and classroom walkthroughs to reinforce teachers successes and help where it is needed.

Phase 7 Evaluation and improvement (Month 35-36)
